ON THE CONJURING
OF DEVILS
She is angry
and indiscreet--a minor poet
who gets emails from happy Christian folk damning her
for daring to suggest that there are a million paths
to the Light, that a white bird may be other than a
symbol of the Holy Spirit, that crucifixion
is a daily occurrence, that Jesus may not like
any of us very much.
Something is
taking place
around her, that much is certain.
She struggles with Oil of Olay's
delusion of beauty and imagines
the irregular heartbeat, the longing for peace, and
an end to the language of superfluous destruction... |
